Eyelid Surgery
The active, outdoor lifestyle enjoyed in our community can help you to stay youthful, healthy, and fit. However, early signs of aging in the eye area can undermine this vitality by making you look older, tired, and even unhappy. For residents of Corona and Riverside, eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to eliminate excess, wrinkled and puffy skin from the upper and lower eyelids, leaving you looking refreshed and alert.
Dr. Christopher Chung is a specialist in blepharoplasty. As a plastic surgeon who practiced in Los Angeles, Dr. Chung obtained extensive experience in advanced techniques of facial rejuvenation. Now that he has established his practice in Corona, patients from all over Southern California can benefit from his refined skills.

Eyelid Surgery for a More Youthful Appearance
Facial expressions, exposure to the elements, and genetics all play a part in the skin’s loss of elasticity over time. The delicate skin of the eye area is particularly susceptible to the effects of aging, and can become prematurely loose, wrinkled, or puffy, causing you to look older than you may feel. To remedy this, blepharoplasty can be performed on either upper lids, lower lids, or both to restore a more youthful, rested appearance.
Upper Eyelid Surgery
Dr. Chung can eliminate sagging, wrinkled skin and excess fat from the eyelids in a relatively straightforward procedure called an upper eyelid lift. This popular surgery involves making a small incision along the natural crease of the upper lid, extending just beyond the corner of the eye. Through this well-concealed incision, a section of skin is removed, and if excess fat is present, it is either removed or repositioned to achieve a more youthful contour.
At times, the drooping or hooded appearance of the upper eyelids is worsened by the sagging of the brows. If, in fact, this is identified as a contributing factor, a brow lift may be necessary to correct this condition. Dr. Chung is an expert on minimally invasive, short scar brow lift techniques that he has developed and taught to other plastic surgeons.
Lower Eyelid Lift
If wrinkled, sagging and puffy skin is present in the area beneath the eyes, Dr. Chung can perform a lower eyelid lift. In the traditional lower lid lift, a small incision is made just along the underside of the lower lashes. Through this incision, excess skin is eliminated and fat is removed or repositioned. Also, Dr. Chung may be able to make adjustments to lax muscles in this area creating a tighter, more youthful looking under eye area.
In patients whose main concern is puffiness in the lower eye area, a “scarless” technique can be used to remove or reposition fat beneath the eye. This transconjunctival approach uses an incision made inside the lower lid, thus leaves no visible scarring. It is ideal for patients who do not have a substantial amount of under eye wrinkling or need adjustments to their under eye muscles.
